1. Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Account information — your email address, display name, and password (stored securely and encrypted).
Manuscript content — text you submit for analysis, stored in your account history for your reference.
Usage data — number of analyses performed, subscription status, and theme preferences.
Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide and improve the Service:

To create and manage your account.
To process your manuscript and return editing feedback.
To track your usage and enforce plan limits.
To process subscription payments through Stripe.
To send you service-related emails such as password resets and billing notifications.

3. Your Manuscript Content

We take the protection of your creative work seriously:

Your manuscript content is never sold to third parties.
Your manuscript content is never used to train AI models.
Your manuscript content is processed by Anthropic's API to generate editing feedback. Anthropic's privacy policy governs how they handle API requests. We do not share your identity with Anthropic.
You may delete your analyses at any time from your account.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the following trusted service providers who help us operate the Service:

Supabase — secure database and authentication hosting.
Stripe — payment processing.
Anthropic — AI analysis of submitted manuscript text.

Each of these providers is bound by their own privacy policies and data protection agreements.

5. Data Security

We use industry-standard security practices to protect your data including encrypted connections (HTTPS), secure authentication, and row-level security on our database. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

6. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us. Analyses you delete from your history are permanently removed.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access the personal information we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate information in your account.
Delete your account and associated data.
Export your analysis history.

8. Cookies

Second Look Editor uses session-based authentication managed by Supabase. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or tracking pixels.

9. Children's Privacy

Second Look Editor welcomes writers of all ages on its free tier. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users between 13 and 17 may use the free tier of the Service. Paid subscriptions require users to be 18 or older, or to have verifiable parental or guardian consent. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will remove it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by email or by posting a notice in the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
